Bloor Smile Dental at Santa Comes to Bloor West Village 2025

A Day of Smiles, Balloons, and Community Spirit

What a magical day we had at the 8th Annual Santa Comes to Bloor West Village event on November 23rd! Dr. Aarati Balakrishnan, Dr. Irma Kacur, and the entire Bloor Smile Dental team were thrilled to be part of this wonderful community celebration that brought families, neighbors, and holiday cheer together in our beloved Bloor West Village.

From 10am to 4pm, the Green P parking lot at Bloor Street and Armadale Avenue transformed into a winter wonderland filled with laughter, festive activities, and countless smiling faces. As a dental practice that’s proud to call Bloor West Village home, participating in events like this reminds us why we love serving this vibrant, family-oriented community.

Our Little Corner of Holiday Joy

We set up our booth with one mission in mind: to spread smiles and make dental health fun for the youngest members of our community. And what a success it was! We saw lots of little kids throughout the day, and their excitement was absolutely contagious.

Our balloon maker was definitely one of the stars of our setup. Watching children’s faces light up as colorful balloon creations took shape—from animals to flowers to whimsical characters—was pure magic. The line at our booth was steady all day, with kids eagerly waiting for their special balloon creation. There’s something wonderful about combining fun and community engagement, and our balloon artist helped us do exactly that.

But the real showstopper? Our glow-in-the-dark toothbrushes were an absolute hit! These weren’t just any toothbrushes—they were fun, exciting dental tools that got kids genuinely excited about brushing their teeth. Parents told us throughout the day how thrilled their children were to take home something both practical and entertaining. One parent even joked that their child couldn’t wait to get home for bedtime just to try out their new glowing toothbrush!

We believe that creating positive associations with dental care starts early. When kids see that taking care of their teeth can be fun and exciting, they’re more likely to develop healthy habits that last a lifetime. That’s what makes events like this so meaningful to us—we’re not just handing out toothbrushes; we’re helping shape positive attitudes toward oral health.

A Community That Comes Together

The Santa Comes to Bloor West Village event, organized by the Bloor West Village BIA, showcased everything we love about this neighborhood. Families bundled up against the November chill, shopping at the holiday marketplace with over 25 local artisans and businesses, children meeting Santa and the Grinch, carolers filling the air with festive songs, and neighbors catching up over complimentary hot chocolate.

The community spirit was palpable. People came together to support the local food bank fundraiser, bringing non-perishable items and purchasing Krispy Kreme doughnuts for a good cause. Kids decorated gingerbread cookies and made holiday snow globes in Santa’s Workshop. Magic shows entertained wide-eyed children, while the giant building blocks (LEGO on steroids, as the organizers aptly described them!) kept kids engaged and active.

This is what community is all about—local businesses, organizations, and residents coming together to create memorable experiences for families. Events like this strengthen the fabric of our neighborhood and remind us why Bloor West Village is such a special place to live and work.

Why Community Engagement Matters to Us

At Bloor Smile Dental, we’ve always believed that being part of a community means more than just having our practice located here. It means showing up, participating, and giving back to the neighborhood that has welcomed us and trusted us with their family’s dental care.

Dr. Balakrishnan and Dr. Kacur are passionate about making dental health accessible, enjoyable, and stress-free for children. We see kids of all ages in our practice, and we understand that early experiences shape lifelong attitudes toward dental care. That’s why we work hard to create a warm, friendly environment in our office—and why we love opportunities like the Santa event to connect with families in a fun, relaxed setting outside the dental chair.

When we participate in community events, we get to meet families who might not know about our practice yet. We get to answer questions, share helpful tips, and most importantly, show that we’re real people who genuinely care about this community. Some of our best relationships with patients started with casual conversations at neighborhood events just like this one.

Thank You, Bloor West Village!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Bloor West Village BIA for organizing such a wonderful event and for giving us the opportunity to participate. Events of this scale take tremendous effort, planning, and coordination, and the results speak for themselves—it was a day filled with joy, laughter, and community connection.

Thank you also to our generous neighbors and sponsors who made the event possible, including Meridian Credit Union, Sidorova Inwood Realty, BCU Financial, Tim Hortons, and Krispy Kreme. Community events thrive because of businesses and organizations willing to invest time and resources into bringing people together.

And most of all, thank you to the families who stopped by our booth! Your enthusiasm, your children’s excitement over balloons and glowing toothbrushes, and your warm conversations made our day truly special. Seeing so many little ones having fun while learning that dental care can be exciting reminded us why we love what we do.

Looking Forward to More Community Moments

This won’t be the last time you see Bloor Smile Dental out in the community. We’re committed to being an active, engaged part of Bloor West Village throughout the year. Whether it’s neighborhood festivals, school events, or other BIA activities, we’ll be there with smiles (and maybe a few more of those popular glow-in-the-dark toothbrushes!).

If you saw us at the Santa event and haven’t visited our practice yet, we’d love to welcome you. We provide comprehensive dental care for the entire family, from young children experiencing their first dental visit to adults seeking cosmetic or restorative treatments. Our practice is built on the same values you saw at our booth: warmth, care, and a genuine commitment to making dental health a positive experience.

For our existing patients—thank you for being part of our dental family. Many of you stopped by to say hello at the event, and those friendly faces and warm greetings made our day even better. We’re proud to serve you and grateful for your continued trust.

Here’s to Our Village

Bloor West Village isn’t just where our practice is located—it’s our home. It’s where we work, shop, dine, and connect with neighbors. Events like Santa Comes to Bloor West Village remind us of the strong sense of community that makes this neighborhood truly special.

As we move deeper into the holiday season, we’re carrying the warmth and joy of that November day with us. The image of children clutching their balloon animals and proudly showing off their glowing toothbrushes, families laughing together as they waited to see Santa, and neighbors reconnecting over hot chocolate—these are the moments that make community life so rich and meaningful.

Thank you, Bloor West Village, for being such an amazing community. We’re honored to serve you, proud to be your neighbors, and excited for many more community moments to come.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Bloor Smile Dental!
